Founded in Montreal in 2021, Bastion Asset Management (BAM) is an independent firm specializing in alternative strategies. We manage assets for institutional and private clients, such as pension funds, foundations, private high net worth individuals and Canadian banking platforms. Our management approach combines fundamental research-driven stock selection with a robust and disciplined risk management process.
We've been a close-knit team for almost two decades and our reputation for managing “long-short” strategies precedes us. Our name reflects the importance we place on asset protection. We fearlessly protect the assets we manage, our convictions and our values, to offer our clients a comprehensive and unwavering investment solution. It is by focusing on quality (not quantity) and rigor (not results) that we aim to offer superior risk-adjusted returns compared to traditional benchmarks over the long term.
We believe in using a fundamental analysis approach to build concentrated portfolios of small and mid-cap stocks with strong value-added potential.
A bastion is defined as the part of a fortification allowing for defence and protection. Our name symbolizes our ability to protect capital during market corrections.
